Dizin Ski Resort
Dizin is a ski resort situated to the north of Tehran in Alborz mountain range at Gajereh region, and is just 71 km. (43 miles) north of Tehran, Iran. The resort is accessible from Tehran by 2 roads, one is the upper road via Shemshak (71 Km. – This road is sometimes closed due to heavy snow) and the other one, the lower road via Karaj (120 km.). It is nearby two other main ski resorts of Iran: Shemshak and Darbandsar.
The highest ski lift reaches 3,600 m (11,800 ft), making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world.
The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than European ski resorts (from December to May) because of its high altitude. The air is also drier than at a lot of European resorts, making for some excellent powder. The high number of sunny days makes it an excellent place for ski holidays.

Dizin Ski Resort was founded by a group of foreigners who were searching for mines in the central Albourz Mountains. The area was announced suitable for skiing and in 1965, by installing a portable surface lift over Dizin pass, the area provided the opportunity for the national ski team to practice.
Ski resorts are among the unique places to provide us with recreational activities and winter sports. So, it seems wise to choose one in which we do not discomfort and in which we feel free to enjoy the coldness of winter and the whiteness of snow under the sunlight. Some kilometers away from Tehran, you get rid of pollution while snow whiteness and fresh air cater you instead. In Iran, Dizin comes top in list of the most popular resorts in terms of snow powder quality, ski amenities and après-ski, meaning that Dizin is up to standards and perhaps among the world-class ski resorts.
After setting up Shemshak electric chairlifts in 1967, the head of ski federation visited Dizin and the matter was discussed at government level. The area was accepted as a ski resort and the primary work started with establishing the road from Arsin coal mine. Finally by 1968, with the installation of one chairlift 2,400 meters long from the base station up to the upper parking lot, the importing and installation of the first gondola to Iran (Chalet gondola) and the simultaneous building of the Chalet restaurant and the installation of the beginner’s surface lift, the Dizin Resort officially started its operation.
Dizin ski complex is the first ski and winter sport resort in Iran which has been officially recognized and granted the title by the International Ski Federation for its capability in administrating official and international competitions. It gained its official title for its specific physical and technical features such as the course slope, length of the course and the place where the competitions and races are to be held, as well as amenities and other recreational facilities. The skiable are is 470 ha and the average snow depth is between 2 and 6 meters.
In addition to the numerous ski slopes offered for all levels, beginners can enjoy the safety and comfort of the beginner’s areas situated in base station closest to the lower parking lot, and our newly developed beginner’s area in Chaman Restaurant. Snowboarders can enjoy the Snowboard Park and Halfpipe situated above Chaman Restaurant, accessed by Sichal Surface Lift.
Furthermore, the remarkably largest ski resort, i.e. Dizin belongs to Iran, in the whole Middle East. In addition, you could well afford a ski tour in Iran either on large budget or cheap. Dizin provides you one of the best ski areas in Iran to enjoy skiing with your family and friends.
